As far as t...Haha, that's awesome info Hilary! As far as the Gideon Bibles, my wife used to work in the hotel industry, and she said that guests are charged if the Bible is missing. I argued that common knowledge is that the Bibles are free, and she firmly stated that they aren't.

It would be interesting to know whether the fairgrounds Bibles are indeed free.

Yeah the Kiva issue is bothersome. I personally made a loan through a religious MFI without knowing it. Somewhere in the third world, a free Bible is being handed out that I paid for...

Thanks for your comment!Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11239962445275007246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497719264946976807.post-18781121080013831392010-01-21T04:48:40.368-08:002010-01-21T04:48:40.368-08:00You say, "Is it even theologically possible t...You say, "Is it even theologically possible to commit a crime while acquiring a God's Holy Word?"

I guess many people agree with you, because Bibles are the most frequently shoplifted titles:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/20/books/review/Rabb-t.html?scp=1&sq=steal%20these%20books&st=cse

Even before I read that article, I heard from an early Kindle adopter that when someone stole his Kindle, the first things he/she bought--before this guy could get to his computer and unregister the thing--were the Bible and a bodice-ripper. (Maybe the Bible was to sanctify the theft?)

At our local county fair, some org hands out Bibles for what looks like genuine free. But maybe they grab your hand and strike up a conversation--I've never been brave enough to find out, and I have Bibles already.

Don't the Gideons still encourage removing their Bibles from hotel rooms? Or are we advanced enough as a society that hotels refuse to stock them anymore?

Thanks very much for your Kiva MFI post, which led me here. I complained to them. If enough voices are raised, maybe they will take action.Hilary Caws-Elwitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02803645988011762046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497719264946976807.post-52642087170328995132009-12-03T23:52:52.119-08:002009-12-03T23:52:52.119-08:00Haha, thanks man.Haha, thanks man.Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11239962445275007246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497719264946976807.post-44366352289983547992009-12-03T19:56:59.507-08:002009-12-03T19:56:59.507-08:00Well you can't want one that much if you aren&...Well you can't want one that much if you aren't willing to go to prison to get it, you poser! LoL, just kidding. I actually tried this myself a few years ago but didn't put nearly the effort into it that you did. Needless to say, I am still bible-less and damned to hell. Assuming of course that the flavor of god that the bible espouses is the one true flavor and not just another proposed flavor that, like all the others, cannot be tasted because it is make believe.Magnifico Giganticushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02643758552168254503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2497719264946976807.post-76410874952154202682009-11-29T22:02:42.805-08:002009-11-29T22:02:42.805-08:00Hi Jonathon,

...Hi Jonathon,

First, thank you for your comment!

-I don't want an MP3 formatted Bible.

-I want both the New and Old Testament, though I can understand why Christians would want to avoid sharing the horrors of the Old Testament with others.

-Mormons go to hell, or so I've heard. Certainly don't want that book.

-I don't want a Bible in PDF format.

I want the same Bible that all of us have come to know and love, and I don't want to pay for it. Is this too much to ask from Jesus?
